Free Bankside Walks


Local writer John Constable, author of The Southwark Mysteries, is running free Bankside Walks throughout the summer. These one-to-two hour walks cover the following fascinating themes:

Ghost Walk, Literary Southwark, Roman Walk, Taverns and Stews, The Outlaw Borough, Healing Walk, Tate to Elephant.

From 9 - 20 June and 20 July - 8 August on: Wednesdays 1pm and 7pm, Sundays 3pm.

Where

Weds 1pm - meet at Southwark Tourist Information Centre (Vinopolis, Bank End)

Weds 7pm - meet outside John Harvard Library (Borough High Street)

Sunday 3pm - meet at Tate Modern (entrance to turbine hall, at top of main concourse)

Our Bankside Forum is now taking place on Tuesday 22 June so you have a second opportunity to participate.

Just to recap: we'll provide complimentary dinner in return for a couple of hours of your time plus your honest thoughts and suggestions about our food, service etc.

CATEY Marketing Award Short-listing


We're up for another award! This time it's for a CATEY gong, courtesy of Caterer & Hotelkeeper magazine. These awards are a top industry accolade that any hotel or restaurant worth its salt will be vying for so we're thrilled to be shortlisted.

We're one of three in the running for the marketing campaign for an independent hotel or restaurant award - to be announced at a celebrity ceremony on 6 July. We're keeping our fingers crossed until then.

 

Bankside EC2


Bankside is expanding! We've just signed the lease on Bankside EC2 - a 350-seater restaurant in the City.

Located at Throgmorton Street near the Stock Exchange, Bankside EC2 is set to be a welcome addition to the City for office workers looking for a smart but affordable place to dine.

We'll be providing the same quality menu and service and the restaurant will incorporate a fantastic bar area plus private dining rooms. It's set to be a great party place so bear it in mind if you are looking for an exciting new Christmas venue!

 Watch out for more details closer to our launch date in autumn.

 

New Executive Chef fresh from the Tate


We have a new executive chef, Richard Oxley, who comes with a wealth of experience gained at the Savoy and, more recently, Tate Modern, where he was head chef for the past four years.

He will be overseeing Bankside SE1 plus Bankside EC2 when it opens. Being a huge fan of Modern British cuisine, Richard is a perfect addition to Bankside Restaurant - particularly as he shares our emphasis on fresh seasonal food.

Richard has already raised the standard of our brasserie menu and has now his sights set on the restaurant . You will see plenty of tantalising new dishes already on the June menu. Watch out for further improvements.
